The Curtain Call Theatre Company is in the midst of one of its most exciting and successful seasons ever. We began the year with a dinner theatre presentation of the one-act comedies Laundry and Bourbon and Lone Star at the Journal Printing Building. We followed this up in late June with four sold out performances of the hilarious farce Noises Off at the Baptist Student Union and are now at work rehearsing Oscar Wilde’s The Importance of Being Earnest for a mid-October performance. In December, we plan to end our season with a radio theatre dramatization of the classic holiday tale Miracle on 34th Street. We are happy that you could be a part of this season through participation in our shows, attendance at our performances, or any other types of support.
We hope to present an equally vibrant season for 2010 but we are asking for your help to do it. We are looking to expand our slate of directors and producers to encompass new blood and ideas and we hope you will be willing to contribute to this process. Do you have an idea for a show you would like to see performed? Would you be interested in guiding a vision for a show from casting through rehearsals to opening night? Have you worked in community, college, or high school theatre in years past but never known how to rekindle your interest? This could be your chance. We want to hear your ideas for plays and performances that we may never have thought of doing. Even if you don’t feel comfortable directing a show on your own, we could have another director work on the production while still allowing you to be part of the creative process.
Please look over our 2010 Play Submission Form and submit any proposals for our 2010 season. We will begin reviewing proposals at our September meeting and will contact you for further information if we decide to pursue your proposal. We at Curtain Call are interested in making our company a true “community theatre” with participation from throughout Kirksville and its surrounding environs and we hope you will be a part of this endeavor.
Thank you for your continued interest and support.
I have tried twice to download the submission form for 2010 but it will not load. It seems to be asking for my Truman i.d. and password. I do not understand this.
I would really like to see the theatre do a dramatic play. I don’t have any immedicate selections but I’d be happy to look at a list if you can generate one.
Please do not do more than one play a year at the round barn. It breaks my heart to have to miss the plays you stage out there because I am handicapped and cannot attend the plays at the barn. I know there are some others with this problem also.
I realize we have been looking for a place to play since 1997 so I understand the problems we have had with that. I commend all of you who have worked on the plays; I think you are doing an excellent job! I just don’t want to have to miss any of them.
